I've been told the novel is neither fish nor fowl.
It's true. You can read the story as a mystery/detective story.
However you can also read it as a story of relationships. Between siblings, between generations, and relationships in life and the events we encounter.
Life doesn't always fit neatly into tidy packages. That is the challenge and, sometimes, the pain of life.
Hopefully the reader can just enjoy the puzzle, or enjoy the puzzle and gain a greater understanding of life's challenges.
