May is not will.
There's a big difference.

These days the subtleties of speech are often overlooked; perhaps even ignored in casual speech.

“May” means I might or might not do something.
“Can” means I am able to do something.
“Will” means I intend to do something.
In daily use there are other words that can also be vague. Think “some and “few”.

Sometimes it’s unimportant.  Other times it can be important to know exactly what people really mean.
Understanding people’s body language can also be very useful.
